Directive & Context
The purpose of the EUFM advocacy program is twofold; inform decision makers and provide information to our member organizations on public policy with the potential to impact the facility management profession.
Now more than ever decisions made in the EU are affecting the built environment; mandates for energy efficiency, public procurement, water use, financial incentives, workplace safety and building codes all have increasing impact on the business of FM. In this environment it is critically important that the FM professionals, who in many cases will ultimately be tasked with implementing these policies, be part of their development.
Work that has already been done in Brussels has provided insight on areas where European FM organizations can work together. The Europe 2020 and now 2030 Energy Directives, the Renovate Europe Campaign, the Build Up Skills initiative and the elevation of FM are all areas where a broad based European coalition must have a voice.
